Conversations

TAILORED FOR END USERS, MANAGERS, AND CUSTOMER ADMINS

Introduction

The Conversations feature in SapienceIQ allows users to participate in discussion threads that are part of workflow items. Conversations are integrated into workflows and enable users to add comments, attachments, or audio notes while collaborating on reports and dashboards, or other workflow-related content. The Conversations interface provides a centralized view of all threads relevant to the user and allows seamless access to the underlying content for context.

HOW IT WORKS
  • Conversations are included as part of workflows and are available to users participating in a workflow thread.

  • Users can create new workflow threads from reports or dashboards and include other users in the conversation.

  • The Workflows Board pools all relevant conversation threads in one interface, allowing users to interact directly or jump to the related content for context.

  • Notifications are displayed for unread messages in workflows, and email alerts may be sent if messaging is enabled.

ACCESSING CONVERSATIONS
  • Open the Workflows Board from the Bulletin board in the Hub to view all active workflow threads.

  • Conversations are listed on the left Vertical Ribbon menu. Users can search by workflow title or description, refresh the list, or filter threads by Global, Discover, or Present context.

  • Clicking a workflow item opens the conversation thread on the right panel.

THREAD INTERACTIONS
  • The thread chat panel shows all comments, attachments, and audio recordings associated with the workflow.

  • Users can write comments directly in the panel or open the underlying content to comment from there.

  • Comments can include text, browser-based audio recordings, or file attachments.

  • Click the arrow on the far right to post a comment.

COMMENT FEATURES
  • Comment ratings can be enabled, allowing participants to give a thumbs up or down for each comment to indicate agreement or disagreement.

  • The workflow timeline shows the sequence of events in the thread, with circle size indicating activity levels. Hovering over a circle shows the date of the first event, and clicking jumps to that workflow entry.

THREAD ACTIONS
  • Load the current report or dashboard related to the workflow (not available for global workflows).

  • Edit participants to add or remove users from the conversation.

LIMITATIONS
  • Conversations are only available within workflow threads; they cannot exist independently outside workflows.

  • Users must be participants in a workflow thread to view or contribute to a conversation.

  • Global workflows do not allow opening the associated Discover report or Present dashboard directly.

  • Browser-based audio recordings require HTTPS and an operational microphone.

  • Email notifications for new messages depend on messaging being enabled in the system.

  • Comment ratings are optional and may not be enabled in all deployments.

  • Users cannot edit or delete comments posted by others; they can only manage their own.

FINAL NOTE

Conversations in SapienceIQ are an important part of workflows, enabling collaboration, discussion, and context-aware commenting. Users can interact with comments, attachments, and audio, while tracking the workflow timeline and accessing related content for informed collaboration.
