Alerts
TAILORED FOR END USERS, MANAGERS, AND CUSTOMER ADMINS
INTRODUCTION
The Alerts feature in SapienceIQ notifies users about data-driven changes, exceptions, or conditions relevant to their work. Alerts are personalized, helping users quickly identify and act on important events in dashboards and reports.
HOW IT WORKS
-
Alerts are generated based on conditions or thresholds (limits) defined by the user.
-
Alerts are user-specific: each user sees only their own alerts.
-
Alerts provide actions to help users respond quickly or track items of interest.
ALERTS LIST
The Alerts List displays all alerts earmarked for the current user. By default, it shows all unread alerts from the last month. Filters can be applied to adjust the listing.
Each alert in the list displays:
-
Status: Indicates the alert condition.
-
Schedule Name: The name of the alert schedule that triggered the alert.
-
Message: The specific message attached to the alert.
-
Source: The report or dashboard used to generate the alert.
-
Author: The user who created the alert or report logic.
-
Run-Time: The date the alert was generated.
ALERT ACTIONS
For each alert in the list, users can perform the following actions:
-
Delete: Removes the alert from the user's list (soft delete; does not affect other users).
-
Go to Location: Navigates directly to the report or dashboard used to generate the alert.
-
Flag: Marks the alert for quick retrieval using filters or searches.
BULK ACTIONS
Users can select one or more alerts to perform macro functions:
-
Mark as Read: Marks selected alerts as read so they no longer appear in the default list.
-
Delete: Removes all selected alerts from the user's list (soft delete only).
-
Define Triggers: Users define triggers for these alerts, such as changes in values or thresholds being crossed.
-
Once configured, alerts notify the user whenever the defined conditions are met.
KEY CAPABILITIES
-
Personalized alert system for data exceptions and thresholds (limits)
-
Quick navigation to the relevant dashboard or report
-
Support for individual and bulk actions (delete, mark as read, flag)
-
Filterable view to focus on recent or critical alerts
-
User-defined triggers for event-based notifications
LIMITATIONS
-
Alerts are limited to the data and permissions available to the user; users cannot view alerts generated for other users.
-
Historical alerts are retained for a limited time (by default, one month) unless explicitly saved or exported.
-
Alerts are dependent on the accuracy of report logic and schedule configurations.
-
Real-time alerting is not available; notifications are sent only after a scheduled data refresh or execution.
FINAL NOTE
Alerts in SapienceIQ help users stay informed about critical changes or conditions in dashboards and reports. Personalized, actionable notifications reduce the need to manually monitor data, enabling faster and more informed decision-making.
