Search
TAILORED FOR END USERS, MANAGERS, AND CUSTOMER ADMINS
INTRODUCTION
The Content Search feature in SapienceIQ allows users to find content across the system, including folders, reports, and dashboards. Once the search is performed, results can be treated like any other content listing, with standard content actions and tools available. Users can trigger searches from the Content Manager or from the Home menu.
HOW IT WORKS
-
The search engine looks for matches across item names, descriptions, tags, and IDs (for exact matches).
-
Simple search performs a "contains" match on the search term by default.
-
Advanced search enables fine-grained filtering using match type, content metadata, content type, data model, creation or modification dates, author, and user ratings.
-
Search results respect user permissions, displaying only content that the user is authorized to access.
-
Users can interact with search results like any other content view, including opening, editing, printing, exporting, and applying standard actions to folders or items.
ACCESSING CONTENT SEARCH
CONTENT SEARCH WORKSPACE
-
Simple Search: Enter keywords in the search bar. Optionally, filter by content type such as Folders, Model, etc. The results show a tally of items returned.
-
Advanced Search: Refine your search using options such as match type (Name, Description, Tag, or ID), content metadata, content type, associated data models, creation or modification dates, user, and ratings. The advanced search allows for more targeted results.
USING SEARCH RESULTS
-
Results are displayed as a standard content listing with a summary count.
-
Users can change the display type to suit their preference.
-
Items in the results can be opened, edited, printed, exported, or used with other content actions, including folder-level actions.
-
Users should avoid performing searches without any terms or filters, as this would return the entire repository and may impact performance.
LIMITATIONS
-
Search by ID only works with the exact match type.
-
Only items the user has access to are returned.
FINAL NOTE
Content Search in SapienceIQ centralizes access to all user-permitted content and provides flexible filtering and display options. Users can quickly locate relevant items and interact with them seamlessly, improving efficiency and reducing the time spent navigating through the system.
